Brockman’s Brats

Yield:  16 Servings
  • 2      Large Vidalia Onions, sliced or more for taste
  • 8     (12 ounce cans of beer)
  • 16  large bratwurst and  mettwurst or combination
  •  16   fresh hot dog or hoagie buns
  • 1 ½  sticks of butter
  • Spicy brown mustard


@  The Brats must simmer at least 1 hour and up to 3 hours

@ Place the onion in a large stock pot or Crockpot, add beer and butter. Bring to a boil, and then reduce heat to a simmer.

@ Meanwhile grill the brats until they split slightly. Remove from grill and allow to stand for 30 minutes.  Add cooled brats to beer mixture. Simmer for 1 to 3 hours.

@ Keep brats in the pot until serving to prevent from shriveling up. Serve on buns with mustard,  top with cooked onions.
